Beautiful, thank you for sharing! “i wasn’t trying to take care of my body. i was trying to correct it.” - so relatable, a lot of it, but this was so on point.

thank you 💜 as it's still a work in progress, sometimes it's hard to openly speak about it, but i think this is something so many women go through that it's worth sharing my experience if it can somehow help someone.

Hi Glicia,

This post resonated so deeply with me and I had to come back to thank you for speaking up for so many of us.

I had to let go of so much from my teenage years the comments, the way others saw me, all of it. My fitness journey has helped me feel powerful in ways I never expected, but I won’t pretend it’s been easy. Seeing my body change in the mirror while figuring out who I am has been its own battle.

Growing up in that era, I was that girl for the longest time but looking back, I realize I was under-eating because I simply never prioritized nourishing myself. Now that I’m two years into strength training and eating well, I can see clearly how little self-love I had been showing myself for so long.

I always felt too fragile for strength training, because fragile was the label the world put on me. Since I started lifting, it has corrected every myth I believed about myself too short to run or be athletic, too skinny and fragile to be fit, every voice I had absorbed over the years. I feel more confident watching my body take a new shape is sometimes scary, but I’ve embraced it.

I am no longer that fragile, tiny, girl. And it feels like finally coming home to myself.

thank you for sharing it with me. it's never easy to talk about things that are so personal and vulnerable, but i think when we talk about it we see that we're not alone and it can help ease the burden. i'm so happy to hear that fitness has helped you through it. there's something powerful and magical about seeing our bodies change, getting stronger and realizing all the things they can do for us. take care 💜
