I feel like all runners know that obsession when that is all you want to talk about is running 😂 it felt like you were speaking to me.

I have recently gotten into strength for my running and this article was so helpful. I have a herniated disk in my lower back and I’ve come to realize there is NO running without strength in my life now.

Hi Kerri! I'm glad the article resonated with you 💜 I totally agree, strength training is so important for runners. Looking back, I realize the first time I tried running I didn't have the strength I have now. It was so hard, I could barely run 2km without pain.

Same here 😆 Are you training for anything at the moment?

I'm training for a 10K race in June and I would love to beat my last PR of 55 minutes. Let's see ☺️

Nice! That’s a great goal. I’m doing a 5K in May and then thinking of a half marathon in October 🥳

This was great. As someone who’s been strength training for a while and later added running, this is such good advice. The goal matters and you have to be realistic.

Really enjoyed reading.

Loved this, validating for myself personally that I’m on the right track. I’m just over a month away from a half marathon and have reduced my strength training volume/ intensity to allow the focus to be on the longer runs and recovery with lifting being complementary not the star of the show. I’m also very much a i want it all kinda girl so has been a sign of progress towards sensibly 😂

Congrats on the half marathon! I'm thinking about signing up for one next year too. Knowing when to focus on one goal at a time makes such a difference. It keeps us safe from injuries it's also so much more fun when we actually enjoy our training.

This was so helpful! I am prioritizing lifting because I'm trying to be stronger, but I love to run, so I am burnt out as I'm overtraining. Love your sample schedule!

Let me guess: adidas 10k? Ugh I wish I could run it again!

Great article by the way! I see myself lol since Marathon training will start soon...

thank you 💖 you guessed it — adidas 10k! i’m so excited. i’m also waiting to sign up for the 2027 hoka half marathon but registrations aren’t open yet.

The spacing piece you mention is so key. Long run a day after heavy legs just wrecks both sessions. Did you find moving long run to midweek was the biggest fix?
