This is the type of substack I've been looking for! I'm also a huge fan of MacroFactor and have found it so helpful in encouraging me to eat more. I can't imagine how helpful an actual coach would be!
Hi Annie! Thank you, I’m really happy to hear that the article resonates with you 💖 I loooove MacroFactor and have been using it for my husband lately (I’m his fitness coach 😄).
Hi Claire. This is a good question! A macro split is just how you divide your daily calories between the three macronutrients: protein, carbs, and fats. For example, you might aim for 30% protein, 40% carbs, and 30% fats. It helps you make sure you're not just hitting your calorie goal, but also getting the right balance of nutrients. Hope it helps ❤️
After two years of regular training and macro counting for maintenance with a trainer/nutrition coach, I just did an 8 month calorie surplus muscle building phase as well. It was so scary and it made me realize how conditioned we have been my marketing to not gain weight and eat small. It was so enlightening to see and face that fear. But I actually got stronger! I feel you! How are you enjoying the phase after the build? I am in a lean cut after and it’s been a little slow going trying to shift my brain to the new macro targets and continue to have energy for the gym.
Hi Laura, thank you for reading! I'm really happy to hear the article resonated with you. I spent 6 months in a surplus, then did a cut for 4 months, tracking my progress with my nutrition coach every 2-3 weeks and reducing calories little by little to protect my performance and maintain my muscle mass. Right now I'm in a maintenance phase. But I get it, after a cut the fear of gaining fat is real. We need to remember that we can eat without weighing every gram of food and enjoy life with the body we worked so hard to build.

Have you tried their new workout app? I've loved it so far and it's been so helpful in getting me to push my weights up week after week
Yeah, I tried it and it’s super well designed. I’m programming my own workouts now, but I used the app for about a month and honestly, it’s great.
I’m a great advocate for making sure your macros are balanced, but in a way that works for you.
Avaia was born from the very reason that we are all one of a kind.
Love to hear your experience. 🙏🏽✨
thanks for reading 💜
Great read!
Thank you 💖
Consistency is key. And tracking is very useful but try not to take it to extreme, in my opinion.
This is really interesting thank you for sharing, most I get but can I ask, what is a macro split?
